The fly and the trains - brain teaser There are trains, traveling towards each other on parallel tracks. is going forty miles an hour and the other sixty miles an hour. At the instant the trains are hundred miles apart, a fly on the front of the slow train flies the front of the fast train, turns and heads back the slow train. The fly can do hundred miles an hour. The fly continued this the trains meet and then rests on the train he is at. How long is the fly in flight? If the trains are on parallel tracks, by definition they cannot be travelling towards each other.

And the answer is … one hour. The trains travel 40+60=100 mph total 100 miles/ 100mph= 1 hr.

I was thinking it was an hour/ but then I thought the fly might have face planted into the other train like they do on a car windshield- dead fly!!
