Beans or no beans, it still gives me heartburn. The only way to get me to eat beans is to put them in chili, other wise you can throw them out. I'm strict on a few things, coffee black, whiskey straight, my beer cold and my steak rare. I won't season or add anything to something until I've tasted it
I don't dislike beans.. I like a big bowl of pinto beans. Love Red Beans and Rice. Just don't like beans in my chili. haha

I could see all the things you list as being a strict preference too.

I was born in Texas and brew my chili without beans. If you would like more insight into chili then read "A Bowl of Red" by Frank X Tolbert.
That a boy..and Yes...I've read A Bowl of Red.

but i like to try something new...so i definitely like to try your chili!!! without beans and all...lol..
You know...I would guess you're not a typical anything. Think you're more unique.

Come on over, there's still some left.

Guess what I made today?? Chili. Cuz we talked about it earlier in the week, and I haven't made it in forever.

Mine is so far from "Texas" chili, you probably wouldn't even acknowledge it as chili...so, we'll just call it...SeaGirl's yummy spicy soup with beans.

Ground meat, chili beans, kidney beans, sliced black olives, beer, brown sugar, tabasco, onions, garlic, jalapeno...plus the tomato sauce and paste. (And this time around I added roasted corn, because I couldn't find the Mexican style chili beans, which have roasted corn).

Haha...I was wondering if any of the people that were talking about it, would be making chili today.

Your's looks good, and you don't say it's Texas Chili, so it can have anything you like in it. I'd try it. Think most have missed the point of...Chili can have beans...Texas Chili cannot.

Oh, and for being a purist...the only thing I can think of is clam chowder...it needs to be a creamy white chowder, not a tomato based chowder.

There might be other things, but I can't think of anything.
I would agree with your assessment of Clam Chowder. That's how I like mine..But I would defer to the "experts" in the NE.

Sounds like Chili is a great comfort food for you I feel that way about home made soups and especially for me it's Meatloaf, I don't know why but when I am feeling blue that's what I make to help me feel better.

I hope you all enjoy your dinner tonight and enjoy some great family time tonight as it's sounds like you could use it..

Seduce the mind and see what a wonderful adventure the body will take you on..

It was undoubtedly a much more relaxing night than last night, but then again, the bar was set pretty low from last night's revelations. LOL.

Chili without beans, red and black, may you have a day without time!!!! got to have beans and make it as hot as you want plenty of chili pepper but do put some beans in it, now without beans it is good for topping off a nice hot dog with diced onions and mustard. Glad you are back on the straight and narrow, nothing wrong with being a traditionalist , but put beans in the chili ...

Haha...good point on the hot dogs. And my youngest would agree with you, she eats the Texas Chili, but she does like my ex's chili better. With those beans all swimming around in it.

I think experimenting is good, hell it's great. It's how I came up with half the recipes for things I cook. Some things though, I tend to follow the adage of , if it's not broke don't fix it.

Funny that's the second comment on the scotch. I can't say I know of any people in my circle that actually drink any of their stuff neat.

Oh trust me, there's a whole school of "beans in the chili" camp down here too. It's where all the ruckus comes from. LOL

I love a good bowl of chile. I love some good Clam Chowder. I tried it once in the red variety and yeah...think the white is the only way to go.
