A Creature of Habit
A Creature of Habit I think I could be classified as a creature of habit on some stuff. I don't mean in a sexual way. I mean, I guess you could say I always just have sex with women. So that's habitual. But variation is still exciting. But if we split hairs I would think we're all habitual to some extent. I was talking to someone today about taking my out to eat Sushi. She asked, didn't you just go eat sushi, a Friday or so ago? And of course we had. We both love Sushi, both love the Sushi Bar we go to. And I have a habit of taking my out every Friday. She then responds with you should try something different, stop being such a creature of habit. Well, first off, at my age I can't really say there's any types of food in San Antonio that I haven't tried. And I do ask my , to decide what she wants to eat. Her choice? Sushi. Guess she's a creature of habit too. There are some things, certainly stuck on. I have consumed the same coffee for over 20 . I like it, a medium roast with good body, but not very acidic. I have no plans to change it. Don't to try a bunch of others. I did that for , and it's how I found the one I like. Color me habitual. I do tend to go to the exact same spot on the beach, every time, year after year. That ain't changing any time soon. Habitual. I have "expanded" my horizons on wine lately. After realizing all I buy is Cabernet's and some Bordeaux's, I decided to shake that one up a bit. I've started letting the little wine steward pick some wines for me every week. She's at about a 90% success rate, and now, I guess I can say I've broken that habit. I try to stay open minded on most stuff. Willing to try new things, new dishes, new ways of thinking. But with some stuff, a "if it ain't broke, don't fix it", kind of guy. I mean, it's been ok up to now, why change it. But apparently, some still think of me as a Creature of Habit. Do you have anything that would make you a Creature of Habit? And don't say having sex, cause pretty sure most of us wouldn't mind that being a continual thing. One of the last lines made me think of a little joke someone told me a long time ago. A little boy is born. At birth he doesn't cry, never makes a sound. This continues through his development , causing some concern for his parents. Over the years, they take him to multiple specialists, with the same results every time. They can't find anything wrong. Everything is in perfect working order. He should be able to speak. But as the years go by, the boy remains quiet as a mouse. No crying, no talking. At age 8, the family is eating dinner, when out of the blue the little boy says, "Could you please pass the salt?" Stunned his parents say, "you can talk. Why haven't you ever said anything?" To which the young boy responds, "Well, up to now, everything was alright". " I refuse to belong to any organization that would accept me as a member" Groucho Marx

I guess I am a creature of habit for a lot of things, but I prefer to admit that I have tried things in other ways and I prefer - the method, direction, food choice or way to get home - that I have now fallen into. Familiarity and a certain security in knowing that I am expecting the expected is probably why I stick with. it. That ... and laziness. I would love to find a better route home . . . I'm still looking and every day is an adventure.. . Yep ! ... is there another way to look at it Going Too Fucking Far NEW Blog Features RevealeD O O A Foolproof Method Posted Over on that NEW site O O

I agree with the comments being a creature of habit isn't so bad and kids especially need consistency in their lives much more than us as adults..If that's her choice now so be it when she is older and ugh! Dad has a boyfriend of her own and changes it up then again so be it.We all have habits some we do that we don't realize we do and some we don't..people have a tendency to want to mould others to suit their needs but that's just control and no one wants others to own and control them takes away their freedom of choices..chin up eat Sushi my friend and prosper! lol cheers

Well said on the Sushi...well said. I agree, we can get safe within our boundaries. And at times, that isn't a bad thing at all. " I refuse to belong to any organization that would accept me as a member" Groucho Marx

LOL...so true with the corporate world. Great point. I know this has been working and is profitable. But lets fuck it all up and try it this way for a bit. I'm not one to suffer boredom. If I get bored with something I change it. " I refuse to belong to any organization that would accept me as a member" Groucho Marx

Almost like she was irritated that I would be eating Sushi again. But trust, me...we're eating Sushi tonight. And being a creature of habit, we'll start with some Gyoza and Miso Soup. There's a great point. Whether or not it affects another person..say a spouse or significant other. And if it becomes obnoxious. Ha, I wish someone would pay my food bill. I've been the one buying for as long as I can remember. " I refuse to belong to any organization that would accept me as a member" Groucho Marx

Getting better at any musical instrument is all about habit. That one works against me at times. I can get stuck playing the same styles , the same techniques . I'm in the middle of learning new styles lately, just to break the monotony. You have a good outlook. Every day is a new day. It has nothing to do with what happened yesterday. Unless you let it. Platos, as we get more mature the creature of habit shows more; same drink at same time, same store to buy the same things needed each week, even to following your weather mam when he changed networks... Habits give us a sense of comfort, just do it and don't have to make that dreaded decision . I have no problems with being a creature of habit, and I too, love a good woman, never to change that habit..The way we love may vary but that is a good thing.. I can imagine your daughter telling people "My Dad takes me out for sushi every Friday." I can imagine the love in her voice as she says it. Habit? Perhaps but it really seems like a tradition and will someday, be a treasured memory for her. Opportunity may knock only once, but temptation bangs on the door forever!

I dont know if its a creature of habit or traditions. My daughter and I have traditions that she cherishes and looks forward to. Homemade pizza and movie night, home made cinnamon buns on Christmas morning. I see nothing wrong with Traditions, so Sushi on.

Doing some things regularly because you like to doesn't sound like a problem to me. I wish I could Sushi EVERY Friday night - but the only decent Japanese place is 50 miles away. When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro. The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

We're all creatures of habit, some more so than others. For some, they're not able to function without those habits, but for most of us, those habits are there because they are comforting and familiar to us. No reason to change unless you want to.

She's a great kid...I got really lucky on that one. LOL I'm not opposed to trying other stuff, never have been. There are times I take her to different restaurants.. It's just she likes Sushi as much as I do, so she usually picks Osaka. " I refuse to belong to any organization that would accept me as a member" Groucho Marx

That could be a timing thing. I took lots of risks and tried anything and everything when I was young. Maybe that has something to do with it. I'm sure there are places I haven't eaten in San Antonio, but I've eaten every type of food one can imagine. And for diversity, I just try new recipes at home. LOL As for the Captain....... I'm sailing away, set an open course for the virgin sea Cause I've got to be free, free to face the life that's ahead of me On board, I'm the captain, so climb aboard We'll search for tomorrow on every shore And I'll try, oh Lord, I'll try to carry on.......................Styx Come Sail Away. She made creature of habit sound like a bad thing. I do my thing as I choose. Not what someones tells me I should do. You are a good dad.

If you enjoy it...then why change? We used to do "Friday Night Dinners" as a family, extended family. It was a tradition, not a habit. Some of my children's favorite memories are Friday Night Dinners. There are certain things I like a certain way, so I guess I am creature of habit, to an extent. But, I am also working to try new things on a regular basis. "Sometimes the most productive thing you can do is relax." – Mark Black
