Now you have me thinking about favorite places. I have a favorite place to walk in my city. It is just a park with a trail around a pond. I used to call it my happy place. It's called Livingston Park. I have not been there enough this year that is for sure. Some day I want to write a children's book about the squirrels, chipmunks, turtles and ducks that inhabit the park. Oh the acorns they squirrel away! The turtles and how they sun out on stones or driftwood. The ducks and the ducklings, how they grow from Spring to Fall. The chipmunks that I see and give names to like Theodore, Alvin and Simon but also Calvin and Herman. LOL I do like the main beach in my state, Hampton Beach. Such fond memories of that place throughout the years. The beach is about a 45 to 50 minute drive from my city and the smell of the marsh and seeing the water tower get me going...that is when we open the car windows. It can be crazily crowded but it always helps my spirit. I love walking along the water's edge. It is probably a mile or so from the shell, the main bathhouse to the rock jetty. My last vacation was up in the mountain region of NH and I adored the views. Such big bunches of huge broccoli! That is what it looked like to me. LOL I am glad you have such a place as Port Aransas. I enjoy reading about your love for it. You convey it beautifully.
That setting sounds perfect for a childrens book. You should do it. You have the talent for it.

It's good to have a place to totally relax at. And thank you very much for the compliment.

See I think that's cool. I was a gypsy as a young man. then work moved me around a bit. I've lived in 11 different states. And have been through or visited most of them.

It is nice to have variety, and I really enjoy different places. But I've never found any that struck me like the marker 11. Think it's mainly a mental thing.

This post really made me think. I guess there are two places: Albuquerque at Balloon Fiesta week and my bed with a stack of favorite authors' new editions, and a sleeping cat

I have a friend who's tried to talk me into going to the Balloon Fiesta week twice. Say's it's just beautiful. Like big kid balloons everywhere.

I know that feeling exactly...but mine comes driving to St. George Island. First glimpse of the Gulf through the trees...miles and miles yet from the bridge to the island. Driving through Carabelle, then to Eastpoint. Now, I'm close, I can see the bridge.

When I get to the bridge, all worries fly away...and by the time I reach the island, my soul is light and singing. My favorite place is the east end, at the state park...at the very end of the road. Just thinking about being there lightens my heart.

Unfortunately, the park has not yet opened after Michael's visit...the dunes have been flattened and the road is covered with sand. I don't know how soon it will open...so, I will need to go to the public beach access, which will be more crowded. (While the beaches are all public, the access is not...)

Thank you for sharing your favorite place...and bringing to mind my favorite place.

From your description, I'd say you know exactly what I feel and try to describe. Sounds like it's the same for you.

I'm going to the beach this Saturday. Too cold to swim or wave board, but never to cold to enjoy the tranquility. Ah....
