What is like being a Female entertainer or Burlesque

I heard allot about being a Female Entertainer and Burlesque that have there ups and downs like any job ,but i also heard is good money , but i question the morality on this people it is worth it to have a career like this everybody looking you like a sex object , or is like any other job maybe ignorance of my part but mostly curiosity how that life style affect your personal life or not , your boyfriend, family , significant other .

What are your comments on that or point of view ?

Burlesque as I remember it, died in the 1960's, after a good 60 year run. What are you referring to?

Burlesque is an INCREDIBLE art-form. However, it's also massively expensive and unless you are nationally known, there's not much of a market for it and it's tough to make ends meet. Most burlesque performers that I know barely keep their costumes paid for and kept up with what they make from the shows. There's a fairly active burlesque community here in Boise, with shows every couple of weeks.....but I wouldn't think of it as a money-maker, it's much more of a "I do this because I love it", kind of art and performance.

@Nola, I'm surprised that you don't know about Burlesque....it's becoming more and more popular. Look into Dita Von Tease....she's the most popular burlesque performer in the world and has her own show in Vegas.

A lot depends on location. I used to live in Toronto where there is a very active strip club scene. Locations are many and spread over the entire Greater Toronto Area and not just in downtown Toronto. Clubs range from horrible to really nice. The higher end clubs often have a 'feature dancer' who was a recent Penthouse woman. The better clubs usually have at least ten to twenty woman working the club. One on the stage and the others offering table dances etc. Most of the women working the better clubs are beautiful, bright and make a very good living. A gorgeous dancer in a great club can earn over 100K per year working 4 hours a day, and that's tax free cash. A woman I became good friends with (many years ago) is now a surgeon in the Toronto area. Like she told me, "where else can I earn enough money for Med school working part time". She never had sex with customers at least in the sense most people would think. She was however a very pleasant and lovely woman who was a great deal of fun to be with and I was fortunate enough too become a good friend.
