And.... She's off!
And.... She's off! The Spawn is spending the week at her Dad's house and I'm left alone to occupy myself.... Perhaps I will start to regain some self esteem! We were headed to the post office tonight when Michael Jackson's 'Thriller' started to play. "Really, mom??" Of course I start to loudly sing along and do the moves while I'm driving down the road. Who doesn't?? The song was over and I was maniacally laughing along with Vincent Price when she finally decided she could take no more. "Mom!! Stop!! You're SO embarrassing!!" "How am I embarrassing? Nobody can see me but you!" "That's the worst part.... Ugh!!!!" What a shit... "There are two things in life that I live for. Embarrassing my offspring and singing along with the radio. Guess which one is most fun??" "Why are you so weird..." "Because it's fun." " |

anything i could do for your self esteem?

Vincent Price's manic laugh is definitely the best part

very early in her life, i told the daughter that the parents job is to embarrass the kid as often as possible. i repeated that phrase many times over the years. i never heard her say you are embarrassing me. she knew what my response would be. training is important.

If nothing else, you gave her something to talk about with her friends. “ You wanna here what my stooopid mother did this morning”! Been through the teenager thing - twice. One each gender each with their own unique problems. Found it was much easier with “the boy”. It does get better trust me. Wait until they achieve their first real accomplishment as a true independent adult person. It’s a feeling of proud that is indescribable. “I made that person”!

we fed them when they could not eat on their own we changed them when they soiled their diapers we patched their scrapes, and soothed their tears rushed them to hospitals in sleet, and snow, and bitter cold we sat in hot gyms to watch them preform crappy plays DAM IT! we deserve to make them squirm at our off key tones sing on my dear sing loud and proud

Funny how their selective memories work, isn't it! My daughter can remember song lyrics and dance moves but can't remember to take out the trash.... woop woop

that's funny you know, I don't care about who sees me singing now, I do cut my own song list, so, I know what to expect but,, it is fun to just sing those songs that move you when my kids were younger they were introduced to wonderful music whether they liked it or not hmm thanks for sharing be safe Billie Holiday - "Time on My Hands" When the day fades away into twilight The moon is my light of love In the night, I am quite a romancer I find an answer above To being me consolation, you're my inspiration This is my imagination. Time on my hands, you in my arms Nothing but love in view, then you fall Once and for all, I'll see my dreams come true Moments to spare for someone you care for Our love affair for two With time on my hands and you in my arms And love in my heart all for you.

If she only knew how many parents feel the same way you do about embarrassing their offspring and singing along with the radio. It's not weird at all! Perfectly normal. One of these days she will discover that herself.

Embarrass them? Don't they realize that we're cool?

My Daughter (technically step daughter before divorce, but still consider her mine) would be singing & doing all the moves along with it as well. She had the Michael Jackson Dance for the Wii

Keep singing ! Chances are that will be one of her favorite things she will like when she thinks of you !

You need to make sure when you pick her up from dad's to play Michael Jackson again. I'm thinking Dirty Diana or Smooth Criminal. If you need any practice before you get her back, I'll wait for my invitation to come over and vocal coach you! I'll bring B vitamins too
