Great Expectations

So I had a very disappointing incident with a friend I met here years ago...he lied and it was a doozy. I was recently discussing the matter with another close male friend and he basically said, "What did you expect? You met him on LesbianPersonals." To which I replied, "So?"

I believe in honesty. I don't think where or why or how you meet someone should change this basic principal. Friends. Co-workers. Lovers. FWB. Sure. I get it. People come here to get laid. You want to project yourself in a good light. Attractive. Young. Successful. Available. But shouldn't you want to be authentic at the same time? There are lots of members who are quite happy to meet other married folk or who actively seek older partners or who genuinely don't care about money or are just as satisfied with a 5" cock. Why do people lie on their profiles? Are we not happy with ourselves? Are we ashamed? Do we honestly think we will catch that perfect mate by shaving off a few years? Saying we are a doctor? Claiming to be single when we are really in a complicated relationship?

Am I just, as my friend thinks, naive to have the same expectations of people regardless of whether I meet them on here or not?

What are your thoughts?

Seems because it's the internet and a semi-dating site, people are going to stretch anything anyway they can.

Truth comes out and bites those people in the ass when the chips are down though.

kind of human nature in reverse.

I'm brutally honest about myself ... good and bad. Probably explains why I'm sitting here by myself. To be other wise only leads to trouble in the end.

Some will be honest, but many will be dishonest. People lie to themselves more than they lie to others ... Its the internet. You can pretend to be whomever you'd like and no one will know better. Its the power of being behind a screen, not face to face
