Merry Christmas

When I was a little girl, living in Mexico, we were really poor. My brother and I wanted a Christmas Tree and my mother went out to a field to get a tree branch. It had thorns that looked like horns and big ants would come out of it. We decorated that branch with cheap, bright colored decorations. We also had a very clay Nativity set.
We rocked the baby Jesus at midnight and lay him down to sleep. After that we went to Midnight Mass.
Somehow those are the best Christmases I've ever had.
We didn't expect presents or a dinner, we just knew it was all about Jesus.
And we were happy.

 the real life struggle. But it was fun to make do with what ever you had to just be together and celebrate.

The older I get know how my mother felt during those times.

So I give my kids what I can but don't go over board.
