You were so right...

An open letter to all the girls I knew as a young (and metaphorically all the girls who used these lame "unfuckable" excuses):

When I was young,, I would take the time to get to know a girl I liked, whether it was a crush, or outright obvious that I had an interest in her. I really tried to show an interest in them. I gave them my full attention, learned their interests, spoke to them from the heart. My quest to find romance always ended with the words like the following phrases:
"You are such a good friend"
"You don't deserve someone like me"
"I have a friend that would really like you"
"one of these days, you are going to make someone else really happy"

Yeah, these were deliberate comments meant to diffuse any possibility of having a romantic relationship. But, what all of you didn't realize is that every one of those statements was precisely accurate.
I was a very good and loyal friend, whom you took for granted
I really didn't deserve someone like you, because you were too fucked up to realize that you didn't deserve me.
And yeah, I met your friend, and they really did like me, and became a better friend than you were capable of.
And yes, one day, I did make someone really happy. It was someone who saw me for who I am, and wasn't concerned that I wasn't on the football team, or from a rich family.

I've seen how many of you have grown up. I've watched as the years of bad decisions and emotional torment have wrecked your lives and destroyed you.

Thank you for your great advice.
You really saved me from dodging a bullet. I'm not bitter, just thankful.

Rejection is not always a bad thing.
