Never to Early to be Charged with Attempted Murder (or Why India Might Not be the CRAZIEST Place)

In the Insanity Arms Race, Pakistan is holding its own.

Police in Pakistan arrested Mohammad Musa Khan for conspiring to commit murder with his family.

Mohammad Musa Khan was booked , fingerprinted, and his statement recorded. He was then released by Judge Rafaqat Ali on bond until April 12. All of the residents of the home were charged when police were pelted with bricks as the police attempted to collect on unpaid bills.

So far, nothing that would make the front pages anywhere else. What made me hold this up as the Standard Bearer of the Insanity Arms Race for Pakistan (with the way women are treated in India being that country's Standard) is that little Mo is 9 months old.

Even the soldiers who were turned into killing machines were old enough to stand unassisted, walk, run, and talk. Apparently, in Pakistan, being able to sit unassisted means you're old enough to face charges of attempted murder. Does he even know how to throw, let alone have the strength to throw a projectile with lethal force? I suspect that is why little Mo was released on bail, to allow a jury to be impaneled to make just that determination. Surely, a 9 month old has that kind of potential.

It took a lot to put Pakistan into the race, with India's sheer depth of human rights issues directed at women (India isn't alone there, but there are such ready examples), but they are in there with a chance. Who wouldn't dismiss attempted murder charges against a 9 month old? I doubt he could even strap a bomb on himself, to be lethal that way. What ARE they thinking?

Update: The charges have been dropped.

What had me wonder the most was that a judge heard the case and set bond or bail rather than dropping it for the child. At 9 months, I'm betting there isn't a doctor on the planet who would take the witness stand to say the kid could have thrown a projectile with sufficient force to kill anyone. If he could, the minor league scouts would be pounding down his doors and schools would be recruiting him on full pitching scholarships. Imagine what a kid like that would be like as an adult?

Unlikely.
