The responses to blogs are either sugary sweet, nasty as hell or not applicable. Respectful decent opinions are few and far between. Is that etiquette at play here?

 You need to remember that sites like this cater to the lowest common denominator so it follows that that will be who you are most likely to encounter.

 Hi miysha...

I take a 'quid pro quo' perspective on blogging...

If people take the time to read and post on my blogs, then I come and post on theirs... If they don't, then I don't.

some just post or blog to get points... I have bloggers that I chat with from as far away as Spain and Argentina... I also carry on conversations with folks in the US and Canada... I've met a few people here that can speak multi-syllable words and express themselves capably...

Others not so much... so, I don't know what you are looking for, but, if you are here, you are looking for something...
