Haggis flavoured what?????????????
Haggis flavoured what????????????? Now that I have your attention, I'll get to the.......................... what are they thinking? Read in today's paper that Haggis flavored chips are about to grace our shores. Now no disrespect to my blogging friend, but I can't imagine having to take along something to a party and rocking up with a packet of Haggis chips. I can see myself wearing them. Why not.............. pork pie flavored chips, now you've got my mouth watering. They just can't get the pastry right here, the meat inside is passable, but the pastry, chuck it in the bin. I must admit, I'll buy a packet out of curiosity, just to see if they stack up to the real thing. |

Haggis flavoured crisps are great. Mackies, who started off as ice-cream producers, make them. They do a decent Aberdeen Angus crisp too

It's the same ol same ol flavors here, no matter who makes them. New flavors are creeping in tho.

When I saw the heading, I had a fair idea what it was about! I love them though. Cheese and onion ones great, too! The one flavour I struggle with is the Scotch bonnet chilli. Too much. Actually looking forward to hearing your verdict on them. But many crisps I find are very... 'moreish' No idea how it will appeal to the palate there, or whether they've tinkered with the flavour a tad

Only two pallets will be arriving, so don't know if they will reach here in the mountains, but if they do, I'll buy a packet and let you know for sure.

I'm sure they've introduced another new flavour or two; their sea salt and vinegar is lovely, even though S&V was something I went off ages ago! I went out to pick up cat food today, I should have picked some packets up if i knew I'd be championing Mackies later in the day Yep, Bovril, although not that common up here; bit like the soups, although I always prefered mulligatawney, for a beefy flavour They do a bacon flavour- just as moreish. Never tried their honey&mustard or tomato, nor their ridge cut selection. But i hope they travel well, and more importantly, taste good to you!! Now, the next thing should be exporting the full range of Border biscuits!!

You can tell apple is run by men what they call 6+ is really 5.5 inches LOL

You are making me homesick and hungry for all the things I grew up eating and can't get here. Maybe you should go into the exporting business , some of the specialty things cost a fortune, but I can't work out how some things are classed as specialty and others not. Yep, made myself hungry for munches and another glass of red. Good idea to try and export more. Some Tunnock's next!

Well, given the trouble haggis has in getting exported, I'm surprised the crisps are getting through so easily lol Yep, made myself hungry for munches and another glass of red. Good idea to try and export more. Some Tunnock's next!

I never heard of the chips it must be an Aussie thing I was surprised to see them trying Haggis flavored chips (crisps) here, as it's quite an acquired taste.
| ||
|
And what delectable goods do Tunnock's make?
| ||
|
Oh tunnocks are renowned for their caramel wafer biscuit, and tea cakes, snowballs. Again, acquired taste! But the marshmallow on biscuit base of the tea cake may appeal best!

Now you've done it.............. just as well I'm off to lunch with a couple of friends. And almost summer down under now, so it should be quite a nice lunch, with or without those artery-cloggers!

I could never understand what was wrong with chips flavoured chips in the first place. In fact the last time I was in the UK I still managed to find a variety of Smith's plain chips with the salt in a separate packet that you can sprinkle over them yourself if you want it. How much does a threpenny packet of chips cost these days anyway? Sir Teezalot WAR IS ABSURD

sorry!! And after that, I can't imagine where we get such a terrible reputation for our diet And almost summer down under now, so it should be quite a nice lunch, with or without those artery-cloggers! Just into Spring and was a lovely day. Now if Summer was only this warm, it would be wonderful.

How much does a threpenny packet of chips cost these days anyway? I remember digging through the packet to find the little bag of salt. As for the cost, have no idea, just that it would be a lot more than threepenny now.

I would never call you such names. I hope they do make it up the mountain, as I will defiantly give them a go. Not sure they will be seen at a lot of barbies, but stranger things have happened.

I can't remember the last time I ate crisps....my favourites were the plain ones with the packet of salt inside. I doubt they will make it to Ireland....it's hard enough to get a real haggis here at any time. ~~Anais Nin~~

I doubt they will make it to Ireland....it's hard enough to get a real haggis here at any time. I noticed many years ago that most of the traditional fish and chip shops were flogging haggis and chips. Not so sure if this trend had more to do with the North Sea running out of cod and haddock or if Bernard Mathews has gone in for Haggis breeding farms in Norfolk. But this may explain the association of Haggis and chips. Mind you the last time I had Haggis at a traditional ceremony on Edinburgh I'd swear it was that other famous Scottish dish of mince and tatties with a dollop of mashed neeps to make it look authentic. I have tried Haggis once, not going to upset anyone by saying what I thought, but will keep an eye out for the crisps.

I wonder if our friend in the Emerald Isle has ever thought of making her own haggis. I noticed many years ago that most of the traditional fish and chip shops were flogging haggis and chips. Not so sure if this trend had more to do with the North Sea running out of cod and haddock or if Bernard Mathews has gone in for Haggis breeding farms in Norfolk. Looks like a lot of bother making your own Haggis.

What are neeps? Looks like a lot of bother making your own Haggis. But as a kid I was surrounded by fields of them. And in fact I preferred eating them raw, the ones I pinched from the fields that is. In fact I could never remember seeing a pumpkin in those days. But come Halloween a hollowed out neep did the job. And when you are retired, I cant see making your own being a bother. I make my own sausages. But then making it would probably put you off eating it. Sir Teezalot WAR IS ABSURD

Neeps? To be honest we don't see them so often in Australia. Never had home made snags.
