Safe.

I'm back after staying a few days with a friend.

What a horrible 10 days. New fires breaking out on a daily basis.

We were warned last Tuesday to get out of the mountains by 10am on Wednesday unless we had to be there.
A friend offered for me to stay at her place for however long it took to be safe for me to return home.

I was the meat in the sandwich. Fires above me and fires below me.

I have lost count how many people I know that have lost everything.

In two small suburbs, 203 homes destroyed and 111 damaged. That was last Wednesdays count in the local paper. Could be a lot higher now.

I took my cat to the vet for boarding so she would be safe. So many different companies were offering their services for free. The vet I boarded my cat at, charged full price. I even took food in, and was charged two hundred and seven dollars for not even a full five day stay.

I work in a Nursing Home. Last Tuesday, the poor residents had to be evacuated, all 160 of them. Some were able to walk, others had to be stretchered out.

I was lucky to have a home to return to yesterday.
The residents started to return today, while others have to wait until Monday.

It was so hard for them, as a lot of them have dementia. They were walking around today totally lost.

All this and it's not even Summer yet.

In one respect, we here were lucky to miss out on the terrible fires, but it leaves us open to other fires that might occur in the near future,

I do NOT want to hear sports people to be refereed to as Hero's. The true Hero's are our volunteer firefighters, and the helicopter pilots that flew for hours re filling the giant buckets and dumping water on the relentless flames.

I was so pleased to see you on here today. I have been thinking about you all week, knowing how close you were to the fires.

What really worries me is that this is not your really hot season yet.....I do hope that everyone is extremely careful not to do anything in the coming weeks to start any more fires.

I am glad to hear you are safe. I have watched the fires on the news. I know the video can not catch the full intensity, but is shocking none the less. I agree, the valiant members of all Emergency Services are true heros,, running to the danger rather than away from it

I often wonder how kicking, catching or hitting a ball makes someone heroic. Putting some effort into a finite time scale with the risk of loosing some pointless competition but still getting paid obscene amount of money ....

I am with you absolutely. Mind you, I did hear that the fires are a needed part of the ecology in some parts, its difficult to marry the needs of the fauna and flora with the needs and wants of people.

Nevertheless, I am delighted that you are safe, ...

Oh, by the way, I heard from Charmaine, shes still with us, and I plucked up courage and told her about the boy....and got a telling off of biblical proportions for not telling her earlier....she sends her love too...

Thank you.

I was very scared.

Yes, we still have Summer to come, and it's hard to believe there is still so much left to burn.

There is a lot of bush where I live. Maybe it's time for a sea change.

Thank you for popping into my blog.

I have been around bush fires for over 20 years, but this was the worse one so far.

There are certain plants that need a bush fire. As well as feeling for all the people that lost everything, I also feel for all the animals that lost their lives too.

Glad Charmaine is still well. I was only thinking about her yesterday.

Thank you.

I have been trying to help by donating clothes and putting money into the containers at the check outs.

I hope Roy also found somewhere to stay during the evacuation.

Which makes me wonder, I am sure there must have been many folks who weren't as lucky as you and didn't have friends or family to stay with.

Good you are safe. I was wondering a little. Heard about it on national news and little worry for you.
Roy is fine, too?

Cum to my blog and respond. Have a great kissing fun time.

Roy is safe, although a little deflated.

There were evacuation places everywhere, and the good old Salvo's were helping to find places to stay for those that had no where to go.

Thank you for the hug.

I was very lucky. I had coffee today with a friend who lost everything. It is so sad, but at least she and family are safe.
