Eye eye. Part 2.

Eye eye. Part 2.

I went back to the eye specialist yesterday.

He decided to put some temporary plugs into my four tear ducts. I hardly felt them going into my right eye, but it wasn't very pleasant with the left eye. It was my left eye that was giving me the most grief.

Luckily I had a friend that drove me down, or I wouldn't have been able to drive. My left eye felt like it was a pin cushion.
It took almost two hours before I felt no pain in my left eye.

These will dissolve in about a week, and I can't get to see him for three weeks, as he is going away.
If they work, I will have permanent ones inserted. If not.... well I don't want to go there.

I still have to use the drops he gave me last time, also an ointment before I go to bed, as it can make my vision blurry.

I still don't know why I put it in one eye instead of both at the same time.
There I was with eye closed for 2 mins. 2 mins. can be a long time waiting with eye closed.
When I opened it, shit I could hardly see, and I still had to put it into my other eye.
I managed ok, but couldn't see how much I was putting in. Back to two mins. with eye closed.

I have always had sensitive eyes (a problem I've heard with having green eyes). Even if I get water in them in the shower, I can't see.

So now with both eyes open I could barely see. So with arms out stretched I fumbled my way to my bedroom, and managed to find my bed without walking into anything.

I woke up this morning, and still couldn't see properly. Thank goodness I have a late start at work today, as it took a couple of hours for my eyes to focus.
Don't think I will be able to use it tonight, as I have an early start tomorrow. Might have to only use it on my days off.

This is the first morning I have woken up without the feeling of half the beach in my eyes for months.
So so far so good. I hope this will finally fix my eyes up for good.

I see, sounds a bit like reverse crying.

But you know I also have vision problems reading you blog posts with my tired old eyes. Black text on darl red background makes me squint even when I have been a good boy.

What's this about green eyes being sensitive?
I have the same colour green eyes as you have, {family thing}, & I have to wear contacts, all the time, with no problems.
Still think, after spending all that money on plugs, that only last a week, you should have gone for the proper ones, 1st time off.
A. It would have saved you a fortune.
B. you would only have had to go through the pain of having it done once, not twice, as you have to have done now!
Anyway, I'm glade they finally found out what is wrong with them.

Life isn't about how many breaths you take, but about the moments that take your breath away!

Wasn't a nice experience. These only last a week, so I hope the permanent are no more painful to put in than these were.

I have no idea why my blogs appear in those colours. As far as I know everyone else sees the same as me. Black text on a white background.
I have not gone in to change the colours, I wouldn't know how. lol

Thought I told you why he put the temporary ones in. Some people that have it done, have too much water in their eyes, so they put these in first. If things are ok, then they put the permanent ones in.

Early days yet, but hope all goes well.

well, ya know that if you did not insist on positioning yourself ass up and face down on the beach, ya would not get so much sand in your eyes...(just could not resist that one...hope you col too)

My eyes are very sensitive. No contacts for this kid. I can't watch anything on TV that even deals with eyes or I tear up. Reading your blog has even made me tear up. I'm off now to go blink a lot.

Out of all the senses, I think loosing your eyesight would be the worse.

I could never wear contact lenses either. My son also has green eyes. He has tried to put contact lenses in, and can't do it.
The problem when working on the eyes, you have to keep them open, so see what's coming.

That's the reason he tried the temporary ones. Some peoples eyes leak too much with them in.
So far there has been a big improvement. Shame I have to wait three weeks before I can see him again.
These will run out in a week, so will be back to the problem I had before for two weeks.

Heaven knows I hope this works for you. As you may already know about me, eyes are a touchy subject for me. I was born legally blind. As I grew older, I was fortunate enough that my eyes got better. Now that I'm getting older, it's going back the other way again. Loosing my eyesight for me is a big fear.

So far so good.
As well as a huge improvement with my eyes, I am finding that I am not tired all the time.
There was me thinking that being so tired, it was effecting my eyes, when it was the other way around.

Had no idea that you were born legally blind.
Great that it improved, not so great that it's heading back the other way.
Does it have something to do with your diabetes? I do know that you have to have so many different types of glasses.
How are your sons eyes, hopefully he will have no problem with them.

So far, my sons eyes are great. That boy has perfect vision! For me, I was born with eyesight of 20/100. That is legally blind by all measures. As I matured, come the 7th grade I was finally able to wear a pair of glasses that brought me close to normal. 20/40 is about as good as I could get. When the diabetes came along, what I found out is sugar levels affect my sight. My eyesight even improved to 20/15 when they did my medical exam!!! I still have nystagmus which causes my eyes to move back and forth and a astigmatism. Sadly, my eyes fluctuate. some days are better than others. With the fluctuation, that is part of the reason for all the pair of glasses. One for each major activity I do. Luckily, my diabetes has not caused a major negative impact on my eyes yet but it for sure affects them.

Now I can understand why you need so many different types of glasses. I had not heard of your problem before.
Fingers crossed that your eyes do not get any worse, and that your sons stay good.

I'm glad you've seen an improvement since posting this. Looks like it will be a long process and you'll have to be patient. I hope it keeps on getting better.

Thank you.
The temp. plugs have dissolved, and my eyes have gone back to what they were before.
I have to wait another two weeks before I can see him again to get the perm. plugs put in, but at least I know they work. I had 5 blissful days of no pain.
