Bad Friend

It's long and white, and some are brown,
Upon it's head a glowing crown.

Put it down, it smolders and burns,
Watch the smoke, as it spins and turns.

Spending money every day,
Just to waste your life away.

Once were able to run far and fast,
Now run short way, breath in gasps.

Lungs were once rich and red,
Now they are black, and almost dead.

Yes, have tried once again to give up the cigs.
Lasted two days.
Have tried just about everything to give up.

We are bombarded here in Oz to give up smoking.
As the ad says, 'Giving up is hard. Not giving up is harder.'
With nice graphic film clips.

Maybe the govt. should not be so greedy, and fund non smoking aids so they are free.
If you are any other type of 'addict' you can get free treatment.

Yes, I am very good at finding excuses.
Do any of you ex smokers have the answer?

I'm sure I'll have enough time to give up, before we get to meet. x

I read the book about stopping smoking by Allen Carr. Apparently it is not "giving it up" it is "stopping" smoking. I can't think of how to describe why ... read the book!
Perhaps I didn't read it right, or should have read it again. I did stop for four months a couple of years ago, but silly me started again. Trouble is ... I like it! Ok, am also addicted, but hey.

I gave up for 10 yrs & then started up again when I divorced, now I smoke more than I ever did.
Must run in the family, being addicted to things!
I really can't give them up, as they say you put on weight if you do.
God knows how big I would get, if I did?

"G" is enough to make anyone start smoking and drinking.

You could always put something healthy in your mouth instead of a smoke. Lol

Ex husband not G!
And stop swearing at me to eat something healthy.
It's taken years of pure dedication for a body like mine!

You only have to stop yourself from having one cigarette - the next one!

Do it!

Easier said than done.

Picking up the Allen Carr book on Thursday.

If that doesn't help, off to the docs' to try the new magic stop smoking pills.

I struggled with cigarettes for a long time. I tried patches and other things and while they stopped the cravings from being so strong, it only took one weak moment and I started again. In the end I waited until I was in a really good frame of mind and just stopped. It has been 3 years now and I still have cravings for a smoke but they are not so strong, or so often and they pass quickly. I found the first 6 months very difficult and when I got cravings I made a special effort to busy myself with jobs that made use of both my hands and my mind until I forgot about wanting a cigarette. One thing to remember is that you don't really want the cigarette and that it is just the drug nicotine tricking your mind into believing you do. Good luck with your quest.

Great that you are still a "non smoker."
The Allen Carr book is still sitting on my coffee table un read.
Maybe I should move the things covering it off, so I can see it. Lol
Hopefully in the near future, I can kick that nasty drug nicotine in the arse, and say "I don't need You anymore."
