Friends of mine and I have for a long time had issues the helping hand that seems to encourage those already receiving aid to have yet one more child and another and another, all as a means to increase the amount of aid they receive. Meanwhile they do nothing to improve their own circumstances. Why should you and I as hard working tax payers keep giving these individuals "raises" for having yet another child while they do nothing to change.

I have long believed one should never vote party lines, but rather one should vote for the candidate that is most likely to make the changes that you are in agreement with as being the ones necessary

I grow up in the projects and I saw families doing this all the time and I hated it then and I hate it now. My father pasted away when I was 14 and my mother worked her ass off to raise 6 of us. To see these fuckers bouncing out baby to get a bigger check is so unreal.

I think if truth be told, most of us are probably all Libertarians... wanting less tax and government stay out of our lives...but that party never seem to get any momentum

je ne regrette rien

I think .. now that the votes are counted and the results in .. that realism needs to start taking hold. There is much to be said for unity and coming together - but WHO really thought that after 8 years of policies that worked on a play now pay later basis that the piper would not come to call?

I do not like the idea of higher taxes... but I like even less the idea of the US becoming THE tin pot North American country (taken from a GOP quote about Tin Pot 3rd world countries that were and are highly ignored in foreign policy discussions - unless or until trouble brews).
Do I think there is and was welfare abuse -- oh hell yeah .. but listen up -- the majority of folks on social assistance are white ... they make up 77% of the current roles as per updated gov't census statistics. In the America that was - that alone is unconscionable.

The main focus of the GOP of late has been fear mongering and flag waving .. with alot of bully tactics used. What the GOP stood for has become mired and muddied with their all to hasty inclusion and reliance on elderly, white male voters ..so they move to pander to and encircle the Christian right ... who vote as they are told on limited facts based on mis-reading of biblical texts, political speech disguised as sermons .. and again.. back to the fear thing. They NEED a major enema to cleanse them of the outmoded backbiting and one-upsmanship - and to come out redefined and strong.

The Democrats are no better - the dirt and infighting .. and taking some issues past any reasonable person's tolerance level (and I am pretty tolerant) is also beyond the pale. Government cannot and should not be the solution to ALL that ails you. It should NOT speak to the individual at all .. but to the betterment of the group as a whole. Personal responsibility can and should be your first response to any crisis that is inside your own home.... much of what goes wrong is wrong there First ... and to expect to have someone step in and correct it without having been honestly appraising of how you got there - and what NOT to do ... well .. that is the behaviour of a 3 year old. I want and expect the gov't to guarantee everyone has the same treatment, same opportunity and same playing field... what you do with your ball once it is handed to you is ON YOU. Take it to a corner, run with it .. even drop it .. its in your hands to do with as you wish. But .. beyond offering and providing the level playing field .... the gov't shouldn't be involved.

All that being said .... There was alot for thought in your post ... thank you

~ [blog kelidgh]~ I am, indeed
