Once and future dreams
I stretch out my arms and pull you close. I smell your sweet perfume; you are the one I was looking for, my love, my life, my wife. I wonder how it ever worked that you and I could meet. I hold you close and I breathe you in; you are my breath of life the center to my soul. Where would I be if not for you? I feel the softness of your skin the sweetness of your lips, what treasure could compete with this? I must confess sometimes it’s hard to lay like this with you. I want you so, I need you too, but your answer is always no. I must be content to know in my heart that you love only me, but I would trade all I own just to have you show it. I’m a gentle and patient lover and care about your needs I would do whatever, to make it good for you. I know I don’t have to tell this, you have always known it. So I’ll just lay here and listen to you breathe as you lay there in your peaceful sleep. Someday I know you will come back, even though you’ve never left and this pain I feel deep in my heart will all be washed away. I have seen your passion, and with the grace of God I know it will return.
