Just a Health Update
Just a Health Update One must not forget that recovery is brought about not by the physician, but by the sick man himself. He heals himself, by his own power, exactly as he walks by means of his own power, or eats, or thinks, breathes or sleeps. -Georg Groddeck Thank you everyone for the well wishes and those who have checked up on me. As you can see, I survived and am the proud new possessor of what is called a bypassing iliostomy. I say possessor because I don't own it yet. I'm still waiting on the bill. It is a bit different than the colostomy that was originally discussed because instead of using my colon they go and use some of my small intestine, the ilium. With a colostomy you get solid stuff out of the bag, with an iliostomy its pretty watery. I went into the hospital in a wheelchair and I believe I could have walked out. My rear end felt immediately better. I spent five days in the hospital and was out before Christmas. I was sore from the surgery but I still felt better than when I went in. I went to my parents for Christmas Eve and did the family thing but instead of spending the night we came on home in case I took a turn for the worse. Everything was okay until the day after Christmas. The Monday after Christmas I began throwing up. I went to the doctor the next day for a follow up and they felt it was dehydration from the iliostomy. The colon apparently is where your body absorbs a lot of the fluids you drink. With an iliostomy you bypass the colon. So all my fluids were going out the bag and not into my body. The cure was IV fluids. Instead of putting me back in the hospital, they had home health come and start everything. It took three nurses three visits that day and 5 sticks to start my IV. Then because none of them seemed to have what they needed, they had to restart the IV the next day, another 2 sticks. Now they have it where it stays in and I get an IV every day. My rear end started hurting and draining a lot again last Thursday. This was very distressing to me since it had been pain free since the surgery. I went back to the doctor for a follow up again yesterday. He says the drainage is okay. He felt it looked better than before and would decrease over time. He wants me to continue getting IVs through this Friday. Then he will see how I do for a few days without them and see me again next Tuesday. Overall he says I am doing good, he just hoped I would be doing better. I went back to work for part of the day yesterday and will do that this week and try to get back to working a full day soon. So thanks again everyone and that is the health update for today. See ya next time, same Batchannel. Pax (Peace) Just Another Geek on LesbianPersonals |

I played with the colors a little. But I don't quite understand the way their color system is picking them compared to what I pick. So it will be shear luck that I find something better. Just Another Geek on LesbianPersonals

What a shame that the relief you felt, when you 1st came out of hospital, didn't last long. Hopefully, things will improve with time. Just Another Geek on LesbianPersonals
