Car questions Cars... trucks or otherwise. What do you drive, and if you're happy with your vehicle: why? Does it do all you want it to? I checked out a Cadillac DeVille today. 1990, only 47,000 miles, showroom condition. No dings or dents, leather interior, power EVERYthing. Great vehicle. And a great price for the condition. But... turns out I don't like Cadillacs. Not sure if it's the V8 engine I don't like or the car itself. The back window was too narrow giving a wide-screen TV on a regular TV effect when looking in the rear-view mirror. And it was just HEAVY (so much heavier than an 89 Olds 88!). And gas mileage not that great. Looking around at used car lots just to see what's out there... there are just way too many choices. And ... apparently it's going to be a while for me to figure out what my ideal vehicle is (or are, in case there are multiple options). 75% of the time all I do is city driving. To and from work, the grocery store. But I also love long road trips. And driving through the mountains, not necessarily on maintained roads. Then, of course, we have ice and snow in the winters here. And sleep. Sex would be fun too of course  but... just sleeping. I don't remember how many times I've had to sleep in my car as I was too tired to drive home safely, or the convenience of not having to set up camp in the rain.My vehicle needs/wants: *Good to great gas mileage (28 mpg or better preferred) *Front wheel drive (all wheel or 4 wheel drive maybe ok?) *Able to handle mountain terrain and long road trips *Enough room a person can sleep comfortably and pack things. *Sturdy enough to handle bumping into the side of a mountain and driving 200 miles home with minor cosmetic damage. Not that I plan to ever do that again... but it lends a bit of confidence in the vehicle. If anybody has suggestions... I would LOVE to hear. Price is also an issue with me but for the moment... help narrowing down a range of vehicles would be highly appreciated. Things I've driven and/or liked the looks of: My dad's rusty, crusty, if you wash it it just might fall apart Jeep Cherokee. Loved that beast (I named it The Beast)... nothing beats the adrenaline rush of knowing you reached your destination alive haha. Plus "I drove that vehicle I can handle ANYTHING!" though it always took 10 miles of driving before the terror of killing myself and everyone around me wore off. The alignment SUCKED. Jeepster Commando (never drove one but fell in love with the whole look years ago) Of course 89 Olds 88. I'm lusting a bit after a VW Passat at the moment, though it's probably too big for my needs. Plan to test drive one soon to get it out of my system. I don't really need a 4+ passenger vehicle, though I suppose it's good to have. In 15 years I used the back seat for people maybe a dozen times. I mean, other than myself sleeping across it. I have driven other vehicles, here and there, but nothing that made a lasting positive impression. |

I have a Ford Focus XR5 Turbo, I think in the rest of the world it is referred to as a ST. Front wheel drive, roomier than it looks, handles very well, quite reliable mechanically. Just did 2 550km (340 mile) drives, averaged 12km/litre (approximately 28.4 MPG) with some 'spirited' driving. I give it the thumbs up. Hope you find what you are looking for and get to christen it in the funnest of ways.

I'm driving a Hyundai Santa Fe, limited Edition AWD. We all use a Honda CRV for work trips. The Honda gets better gas then the Hyundai, but it’s also 4 year newer. The CRV does well off road as we take it to my roomie’s family lake house and the road is not paved. I have driven a number of different models over the years, I still LOVE Nissans and still want an old school Pathfinder for my go to ride for photo gigs that require me to go off road. Honda CRV is a great car! Very Comfortable and great on gas! Comes in 4 wheel drive or all wheel, Very affordable as well. I drive a acura RDX best car I have ever owned, Drive it in the Rockies all winter! I can drive a full tank of gas without getting out to stretch, I have had many back surgeries and would highly recommend the Acura

Well, everybody has different needs, likes and dislikes. I had a long commute so I bought a 2010 Honda Insight hybrid. I regularly got 50 mpg, and occasionally up to 63, highway driving. My wife drives it around town now and scores in the 40's without trying. It won't haul a load of wood or rocks, and I can't get a lot of pellets for the stove in it, but I love the economy of this car. I've never had a bit of trouble with it. Did well in the snow too. I've got my old beater 1991 Ford truck for any work I want to do. Become a member now and get a free tote bag.

When shopping for new cars several years ago, test drove many makes and models, I found I felt most comfortable in the Camry we got. For work I have a Tacoma. It may sound I'm partial to Toyota but I just like the way they feel when I'm driving

You will NOT like my suggestion! A pickup. I drive a one ton crew cab, with a diesel engine, with a long box, a 6 speed manual transmission, and 4 wheel drive Dodge pickup. It has power enough to pull a 24 ft stock trailer, fully loaded, on the interstate in the mountains at 75 mph. It still gets 15 to 17 miles per gallon.

I drive a f105 pickup. I need it for pulling my boat and camping. I have a cover on the back to store stuff. One thing about it is the bad gas mileage. Filling a tank is about $80 and long wait.   Cum to my blog and respond.  Have a great kissing fun time.

I had a 59 Pontiac man it had a big back seat. This is not meant to offend any one in any way.
